Frequently Asked Questions

  • No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to see a psychologist but if you are expecting a Medicare rebate you will need a specific referral from your Doctor. This referral is called a Mental Health Care Plan and the Doctor decides whether you fulfil the criteria for this type of referral. See “Feed & Rebates” for more options

  • You may cancel or reschedule your appointment anytime. However, there is a full fee (100% of the session fee), for not attending an appointment without notice, or providing less than 24 hours notice. If you provide between 24-48 hours notice, a 50% of the session fee will applies. This is for therapy sessions only. Late cancellation or non-attendance fees are not rebatable from Medicare or Health funds. Failure to cancel or attend appointments may result in cancellation of future appointments.

  • 50-minutes. Longer appointments may be possible upon request. Longer appointments are charged at the pro-rata rate of $200/ 50-minutes.

  • To ensure that appointment slots are fully utilized and to help as many people as possible, clients are asked to notify the service if they cannot attend an appointment. A reminder text is sent 72 hours prior to appointments. Cancellations with more notice allow the opportunity to offer the appointment to others in need of prompt support. Additionally, time goes in to preparing for appointments.

  • Yes Dale offers Telehealth appointments however this can vary from time to time based on a clients’ presentation. At times, it may not be clinically appropriate to provide services via Telehealth. See the “Telehealth Information” for more details

  • An initial consultation can be quite different to the rest of sessions. I will undertake an initial assessment which involves collecting information so that I can get to know you, your goals, what has brought you to psychology. I try to ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible and create an opportunity for you to get to know me too. Finding the right psychologist is often important for many people.

  • Dale works in rooms on Mondays. Clients have the option to request telehealth appointments for alternate days however all appointments are subject to availability.

  • In person appointment appointments are in Nerang QLD 4211. The address will be provided at time of booking with your welcome pack, information regarding parking, and more!

  • In-person appointments on Mondays are between the hours of 8:30am and 4pm. Week-day telehealth appointments are between the hours of 8:30am - 5:30pm.

  • Yes, however weekend appointments cannot always be guaranteed and are typically offered only on Saturdays via Telehealth at a rate of $225/ 50 -minute appointment.

  • Yes, however evening appointments (i.e., after 5:30pm) are offered Tuesday to Friday, at a fee of $225/ 50-minute session.

  • Privacy: As a health professional registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Psychologists must adhere to privacy regulations and Australian Privacy Principles and the Privacy Act (1988) and relevant state and national legislations. All programs used to store information, assess data or communication comply with these privacy regulations to ensure data is handled securely and responsibly.

    Ethics: The Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics articulates and promotes ethical principles, and sets specific standards to guide both psychologists and members of the public to a clear understanding and expectation of what is considered ethical professional conduct by psychologists.
