Medicare

Mental Health Care Plan

Eligible clients can claim a Medicare rebate of $96.65 per individual 50-minute session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. This reduces your out-of-pocket costs to $103.35 per session. Medicare does not provide a rebate for assessments.

For convenience, Medicare and health insurance rebates are processed following your appointment and paid directly into your nominated bank account. Funds are typically received in 1-2 business days. In order to receive a rebate from Medicare, you will need to make an appointment with your GP, who will assess whether you are eligible for a referral given your healthcare needs and circumstances. Should you wish to discuss this with your GP, we recommend requesting an extended appointment. If your GP determines that you would benefit from seeing a Psychologist, you will be provided with a document known as a Mental Health Treatment Plan, which will allow you to claim your rebate. You will need to bring a copy of your Mental Health Treatment Plan to your first appointment in order to claim the Medicare rebate for your sessions

Private Health Funds

If you have private health insurance that includes psychology sessions as extras cover you may be eligible for a partial rebate. Rebates from private health funds will vary, depending on the health fund and the level of insurance cover. We recommend contacting your insurance provider for further information about your personal coverage and the rebates you are entitled to.

Self-Referrals

If you would prefer not to visit your GP to get a referral or are not eligible under Medicare, you can simply make an appointment. Please note that self-referred clients are required to pay the full cost of sessions at their own expense (i.e., $200).
